Per the dw_news post regarding the MS/TN blocks, we are doing a small code push shortly in order to get the code live. As per usual, please let us know if you see anything wonky.
There is some code cleanup we've been doing that is going out with this push but I don't think there is any new/reworked functionality, so it should be pretty invisible if all goes well.
Cats and stretches are basically a love story written in slow motion. One moment they're curled up like tiny cinnamon rolls, the next they unfold into a majestic, spine-arching yoga pose that screams, "Behold my supreme flexibility!" Watching a cat stretch is a masterclass in grace and laziness simultaneously. They'll reach their paws forward, extend their claws like tiny rakes, and arch their back so perfectly it could make a contortionist jealous. Every stretch is a full-body extravaganza, from the twitch of their whiskers to the curl of their tail, with a little meow thrown in for dramatic flair.
Sometimes the stretch ends with a theatrical flop onto the floor, as if the exertion was simply too much for mere mortals to comprehend. Other times, they'll transition seamlessly into a kneading session, using their paws to press imaginary dough like feline bakers of relaxation. These moments prove that cats have perfected the art of stretch first, conquer later. A cat mid-stretch is a living reminder to hoomans to pause, limber up, and approach the day with elegance, one luxurious paw at a time.

For years, this hooman had envied the mysterious ways of the Cat Distribution System. Her mother had been a true CDS legend, a Grand High Poohbah who seemed to conjure kittens out of thin air. Childhood afternoons were sprinkled with surprise paws and purrs, while she herself watched from the sidelines, waiting for destiny to deliver her own unexpected furball. Yet, despite her best hopes, the years passed with nary a whisker. The CDS seemed to have left her off its mailing list.
Until, at long last, fate decided to pounce. While touring houses, she discovered a tiny voice crying from the bushes: a bedraggled, flea-speckled, five-pound kitten demanding attention. This was Colette, her long-awaited proof that the CDS still works its mysterious magic. Named after her mother's beloved childhood toy, Colette became both a tribute and a victory of the people (and the felines). Soon, she will meet Peter Pizza Petey Pete, the household's twenty-pound feline overlord.
At last, the CDS had delivered. And like all true distributions, it came not when expected, but exactly when it was needed most.

Something I really love about the modern era is the open, raw honesty about life. In past generations, the pressure to pretend was ever-present, to an alarming degree. With millennial and Gen Z apathy at the state of the world, combined with globalization and a human connection through technology and social media, being not okay has become…actually okay and socially acceptable. Finally! We don't have to pretend anymore. Laughing at ones misery is all apart of dealing with it.
I have mixed feelings about therapy. I do know from my cat that he's loving it though. My cat, Ty, has been with his cat therapist for a year now and I can really see an improvement. He doesn't knock down fragile objects from tables anymore. And when he meows, he's not just crying for attention, he's really trying to appropriately communicate. I didn't know you could teach cats new tricks either, but lo and behold. So if you're a confused, cantankerous, capricious cat who needs to take a calm deep breath from the chaotic day-to-day and escape through some memes, these are definitely for you.

Once again, friends, the Cat Distribution System has worked its mysterious magic - and this time, it blessed us with a bonus glow-up tale. Crusty the kitten wandered into a carport, cried for two days, and ended up finding the family he was always meant to have. From those first fragile days, to the vet visit, to the most recent photo of him proudly supervising RN school studies - the transformation is nothing short of breathtaking. That's the beauty of the CDS: it doesn't just deliver cats, it delivers happiness. A cat finds safety, love, and a home. A human finds companionship, laughter, and unconditional affection. Both lives changed forever.
So many of us here in our online feline family can trace the origin of our beloved furballs back to the CDS. Whether it's a meow from the bushes, a pair of glowing eyes at the doorstep, or a tiny pawprint in the snow - the universe has a funny way of choosing who gets a cat, and when. And while we may joke about it, the gratitude is real. This meowstrerious force of nature seems to know exactly when we need a cat - even when we didn't know it ourselves.
To all the pawrents and CDS-delivered kitties reading this, we wish you the fullest bellies, coziest naps, and happiest lives together. Because this whole system isn't just funny - it's wholesome, heartwarming, and full of love. We're so thankful for our online feline family who continues to share these beautiful stories, reminding us just how lucky we are to live in a world where cats always seem to find us.

Why does it feel like there's some mysterious science-y chart out there showing a direct link between loving cats and being introverted? We're not saying extroverts can't be cat people (cats will graciously allow anyone to worship them, after all). But let's be real - the more introverted you are, the higher the odds you've got a cat curled up somewhere in your space. It's less about how "cat person" you are, and more about how much cats just… fit the vibe.
Think about it: cats are basically the spirit animals of introverts. Don't feel like going out? Perfect, neither does your cat. Want to curl up under a blanket in your favorite cozy spot? Your cat is already there. Planning a night in with tea, a book, and zero small talk? Congratulations! You've just described your cat's dream evening too. They're practically the purrsonification of staying home and doing your own thing.
That's why we've rounded up a collection of introvert-approved cat memes - silly, snuggly, and oh-so true. Scroll through them with your feline sidekick, in your quiet corner, where the only conversation you need to have is with a little ball of fluff. Now that's what we call pawsitive social interaction.

A reminder to everyone that starting tomorrow, we are being forced to block access to any IP address that geolocates to the state of Mississippi for legal reasons while we and Netchoice continue fighting the law in court. People whose IP addresses geolocate to Mississippi will only be able to access a page that explains the issue and lets them know that we'll be back to offer them service as soon as the legal risk to us is less existential.
The block page will include the apology but I'll repeat it here: we don't do geolocation ourselves, so we're limited to the geolocation ability of our network provider. Our anti-spam geolocation blocks have shown us that their geolocation database has a number of mistakes in it. If one of your friends who doesn't live in Mississippi gets the block message, there is nothing we can do on our end to adjust the block, because we don't control it. The only way to fix a mistaken block is to change your IP address to one that doesn't register as being in Mississippi, either by disconnecting your internet connection and reconnecting it (if you don't have a static IP address) or using a VPN.
In related news, the judge in our challenge to Tennessee's social media age verification, parental consent, and parental surveillance law (which we are also part of the fight against!) ruled last month that we had not met the threshold for a temporary injunction preventing the state from enforcing the law while the court case proceeds.
The Tennesee law is less onerous than the Mississippi law and the fines for violating it are slightly less ruinous (slightly), but it's still a risk to us. While the fight goes on, we've decided to prevent any new account signups from anyone under 18 in Tennessee to protect ourselves against risk. We do not need to block access from the whole state: this only applies to new account creation.
Because we don't do any geolocation on our users and our network provider's geolocation services only apply to blocking access to the site entirely, the way we're implementing this is a new mandatory question on the account creation form asking if you live in Tennessee. If you do, you'll be unable to register an account if you're under 18, not just the under 13 restriction mandated by COPPA. Like the restrictions on the state of Mississippi, we absolutely hate having to do this, we're sorry, and we hope we'll be able to undo it as soon as possible.
Finally, I'd like to thank every one of you who's commented with a message of support for this fight or who's bought paid time to help keep us running. The fact we're entirely user-supported and you all genuinely understand why this fight is so important for everyone is a huge part of why we can continue to do this work. I've also sent a lot of your comments to the lawyers who are fighting the actual battles in court, and they find your wholehearted support just as encouraging and motivating as I do. Thank you all once again for being the best users any social media site could ever hope for. You make me proud and even more determined to yell at state attorneys general on your behalf.
We're not huge fans of the term "crazy cat lady". Although we are crazy about cats, we've never heard anyone other than ourselves use that term in a pawsitive light. It usually is meant to describe a purrson who lives in a dirty house, doesn't care about anything except their cats, and probably wishes they were their cats. Even though two of those three things describe us purrfectly, we think it's time we buried that term in the litter box with yesterday's #2 so a new term for cat lovers can step into the spotlight. How about feline floofer fanatics?
We think it purrfectly describes the whiskery whimsy that comes with loving and being expurrts on cats. We're not crazy, we're educated. We're bilingual (fluent in English and in "cat"). Is it so wrong to care for a four-legged fluffy creature more than a fellow hooman? We don't think so.
And that leads us to the wholesome bowl of whiskered weirdos we've gathered for you today. Some of these pics might remind you, you fellow feline floofer fanatic, of your own cats. We hope they do, anyway. We enjoyed them, so we're sure you will too.g

In the office again, time is barely moving, and all we are doing is thinking about coming home to our cats. That's how it is at the end of the week (and sometimes in the beginning too, if we are honest). But we have to be here, we have to push through and provide for ourselves, and more impurrtantly, our cats. And in the office, only one thing gives us comfort, only one thing makes us feel a little of that cat warmth that we have at home. That one thing, you know it, is hilarious cat memes.
When we scroll through memes like these - wholesome cat memes that are also a little bit chaotic, we truly do feel like we're at home. Because that's how cats are too - cozy, soft, loving, and every once in a while, full of the unexplainable desire to bite your ankles. So, really, when we put together these listicles of silly cat memes, we do it for our own well-being. You guys enjoying them too is just the cherry on top.

The 9-5 grind can really take it out of you; it sometimes feels like a never-ending cycle of commuting, working, and sleep. By the time you reach the middle of the week, it's easy to feel drained, frazzled, and maybe even a little cat-atonic from the stress. Your coworker may try to talk to you at the printer, but all you hear is the distant mumbling of your stomach waiting for lunch. That's where a healthy dose of cat memes comes in.
Cats have an uncanny ability to capture the human condition in the most ridiculous ways. whether it's their empathetic eyes when they hear a strange noise, their cries for affection when you come home from work, or their anger at not getting wet food for dinner. Scrolling through a mouthful of meowing memes isn't just meretricious mindlessness, it's actually more therapeutic than your therapist.
So if you're feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders and like the world is just a second away from something catastrophic, ease into these hilarious cat memes to make everything feel better.

Now these are the types of stories that make our feline-shaped hearts go all aflutter with wholesomeness. We have nothing but kind words to say about the online cat community, and that's not something we can say about hardly anyone at all! One defining feature of a cat purrson is that they will always go out of their way to help cats in need. Even if you have three cats and you say, "We can't adopt another one, three is our maximum", but then you find a hungry stray on the side of the road…. you're going to take him home. Anything is better than letting it continue to live on the street.
Anyway, we've teased you enough - it's time to talk about this random act of kindness that happened below. A mailman posted about how he started to fall in love with cats after making deliveries to a local vet, and then, after delivering to a trailer park once and seeing all the cats there, he decided to start feeding them. Well, the internet turned out and sent him hundreds of dollars worth of food and treats so he could continue to feed them without financial stress. See? We told you it was a good one.
If you're looking for a story to pull on your heartstrings, you've found it. If you're looking for a story of a grown man crying from the kindness of others? Welcome, and grab some tissues.

People abandon their cats, can you believe that? Did you know that? We know, factually, that this happens, and yet, we cannot believe it. Look at your cat for a moment - your spoiled loved cat who, over the years, has lost the ability and desire to even chase flies around the house, and imagine it trying to survive on its own for more than a few days outside. Impossible, right? If, for whatever reason, you had to let the cat go, you would find it a new loving home, right? We know that we would. But apparently, that is not true for everyone.
Now, we know that we don't hear about the other stories… the ones that end less well, but it's important to us to showcase the ones who do have a happy ending. Stories where cats who got abandoned get adopted all over again - by better people this time, people who, just like us, would never abandon their cats. We share these stories in the hopes of inspiring more people to do the same - to give these abandoned older cats a second chance.
